Section VI: The Computer Prescription
The computer prescription consists of a specialized prescription that contains the exact add power necessary to put patient's accommodative system at rest when viewing the computer screen
The computer prescription

- Is where the lenses do the focusing, rather than using the patient’s accommodative system
Following the exam
- Doctor has now determined appropriate computer-specific prescription
- Patients who are wearing contacts can have a computer prescription that includes any uncorrected astigmatism they might have
Resulting computer eyeglasses
- Will maintain the patient's focus at rest when using computer
- A computer prescription determined in this way will eliminate the constant refocusing by the eyes when looking at a computer monitor
- This allows the ciliary (focusing) muscles to relax
Steps to success
- Doctor diagnoses patient to get accurate computer Rx
- Doctor/dispenser determines best lens choice to deliver that computer Rx
