PRIO Offers In-Store Marketing Displays for Their Complete Computer Vision System

(Beaverton, OREGON) PRIO Corporation, market leader in the fast growing computer vision care industry, is now offering "one-stop shopping" marketing displays to both eye doctors and optical retailers. This includes the option of a counter display, a wall display and a floor display geared toward different office configurations and available space. The high-tech displays are designed to attract the attention of patients that in turn helps the opticians and doctors discuss computer vision care and the need for computer specific eyewear.

"As a result of the more than 100 million adults and children who work on computers daily, computer vision care has become one of the fastest growing niches in the optical market." said Jon Torrey, President/CEO, PRIO Corporation. "Our Complete Computer Vision System will help eye doctors take advantage of this large and growing market that, until now, has gone largely untapped."

Retail computer and office supply stores have quickly recognized this huge opportunity by aggressively selling from their in-store kiosks what they once called "readers" and now market as "computer eyeglasses." Many of these stores routinely sell dozens of pairs every day—eyewear that has not been prescribed specifically for computer use. This gives some indication of the opportunity that now exists for retailers and eye doctors who are uniquely qualified to educate their patients about computer vision care.

"With PRIO's Complete Computer Vision System, optometrists can prescribe computer eyewear based on the most reliable computer vision technology available and choose from a collection of high-tech—yet reasonably priced—designer frames, as well as computer lenses, clips and other accessories," said Torrey.

The three display options all include the following:

  • An assortment of PRIO's high tech, designer computer frames.
  • Clips for use outdoors as well as with a PRIO Rx for computer use.
  • A holder for brochures offering patients information concerning the PRIO exam, options for eyewear and lens choices best suited to their needs.
  • The PRIO tester and all marketing and training materials.
  • A dispensing mat including fitting instructions, best options for computer use, lens recommendations and information on lens coatings for computer eyewear.
  • Computer eyewear accessories.

Computer eyewear— which contain a different Rx for computer use than for distance—has become a necessity for more and more adults and children who spend hours every day in front of computer screens. The American Optometric Association has reported that 70-75% of computer users suffer from Computer Vision Syndrome—including eyestrain, headaches, irritated and dry eyes, blurred vision, and neck, shoulder and back pain. Surveys, in fact, have shown it to be the number one complaint of office workers.

Headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, PRIO developed the PRIO Vision Tester, the only FDA Class 1 medical device that enables doctors to accurately diagnose and treat Computer Vision Syndrome by simulating a computer screen.
