OPTICAL LABS HOST LIVE PRIO COMPUTER LENS SEMINAR

(Beaverton, OREGON) PRIO Corporation, the leader in computer vision care, is bringing its newly developed ABO- and state-approved computer lens seminar to optical labs, in order for them to provide this information to their accounts.

This two-hour computer vision course, "Solving Your Patients' Computer Vision Problems," was developed in partnership with Joe Bruneni, Vision Consultants, Inc. The purpose of the lens seminar is to provide labs with an easy way to educate ECPs about computer vision care, including how to provide the best lens technology for their computer-using patients.

"Currently, too many eye care professionals still use single vision or bifocal lenses for their computer patients because they don't feel comfortable fitting variable focus lenses," said Jon Torrey, President/CEO of PRIO. "Others are using trifocals or general purpose PALs. For the most part, these lenses are not the best choice for computer users who must see primarily at the midrange, but also need to read printed material and would like as much distance vision as possible. That's why variable focus lenses have become the 'lens of choice' for computer-using patients."

Don Corley, lab manager, CVO Optical, Inc. in Dallas, TX, is co-hosting the live lens seminar on October 15th with Dietz Optical Lab, Forth Worth, TX. "There are over 143 million computer users in America and 75% need computer eyewear," said Corley. "We want our accounts to have the most complete information available in order to choose the best lens treatment for their computer-using patients. The PRIO lab seminar will provide that information to our accounts."

The seminar focuses on identifying and treating computer vision problems and dispensing computer eyewear. Those attending the lens seminar will learn how to:

  • Incorporate a computer exam into a comprehensive patient exam that will help eliminate the symptoms of CVS (computer vision syndrome) for their computer-using patients.
  • Demonstrate to their computer-using patients the realities of computer vision syndrome and the benefits of a computer vision exam and the prescribing of computer vision eyewear.
  • Improve their bottom line by using state-of-the-art technology and products designed to diagnose and treat computer vision problems.
  • Create a specialization in computer vision care that does not require a huge investment.
Since the labs are hosting the lens seminar, there is no charge to participating ECPs. Optometrists will receive 2 hours of state-approved CE credit and opticians will receive 2 hours of ABO credit. The following lab-hosted LIVE lens seminars are currently scheduled:
October 15, 2002 CVO Optical, Dallas, TX
October 15, 2002 Dietz Lab, Fort Worth, TX
November 6, 2002 Expert Optics, Shorewood, IL
