PRIO’s Shazam! Lens Calculator Now Available For All Computers

New Version Expands Availability of NFV Lenses to Prepresbyopes

Beaverton, OR – PRIO Corporation has expanded its revolutionary lens calculating software, Shazam!, so that all ECPs who wish to order Near Variable Focus (NVF) lenses for computer users, now have access to the technology.

"Shazam! 4.0 is a huge step toward our goal of making computer lenses easy for ECPs," said Jon Torrey, president of PRIO. "We’ve received great feedback from our installed base of Shazam! users, and the new 4.0 version incorporates all the features that ECPs have been asking for – the ability to run on all computer platforms, and a way to fit NVF lenses on younger patients."

In the past, many ECPs found the process of fitting and ordering NVF lenses mysterious and complex. For this reason, PRIO Corporation developed the revolutionary Shazam! Lens Calculator as a quick and easy way to take the mystery out of calculating the correct power to order, and determining the best NVF lens for their computer-using patients.

Earlier this year, PRIO introduced Shazam! CE, which enabled all ECPs -- even those who do not use the PRIO tester-- to quickly and easily determine the best NVF lens for their computer-using patients. Until now, both versions ran only on the Windows platform. The new Shazam! 4.0 expands the availability and adds several additional key advances:

  • Shazam! 4.0 is platform independent and can run on any computer with a web browser. This gives Mac and Linux users the opportunity to use Shazam! for their NVF lens ordering.
  • Shazam! 4.0 is accessible through PRIO’s website, so that ECPs can simply log onto www.prio.com and calculate an Rx. Or, ECPs can download the software to run on their own computer.
  • Shazam! 4.0 expands the age range for easy fitting of NVF lenses by adding a selection specifically for prepresbyopic computer patients. Now ECPs who want to prescribe NVF lenses for young children, who work on computers at home and school, have access to the same timesaving calculator features.
  • Shazam! 4.0 calculations can be saved as MS Word documents, and sent to labs as attachments to electronic orders, or stored within patient records in paperless practice management systems.

To use the Shazam! 4.0 software online or to download a copy for offline use, simply go to www.prio.com. To order the PRIO Shazam! 4.0 on CD-ROM, call .
