PRIO Educates Optometry Students on Computer Vision Care

(Beaverton, OREGON) As part of their on-going efforts to raise awareness of the importance of proper computer vision care, PRIO Corporation is sponsoring three Computer Vision Care seminars for future optometrists in January. The purpose of the seminars is to educate students on quality computer vision care and how it helps improve patient care and build a practice. The presenting doctors will discuss the growing need for computer vision care in a digital economy, the basic services offered and the clinical and practice management benefits of developing a computer vision care program. PRIO presents seminars every year to third and fourth year students at many of the schools of optometry across the country.

"With the proliferation of computers at home and in the workplace, the demand for computer vision care is growing," said Jon Torrey, President of PRIO Corporation. "Not only do patients need this kind of care, it represents a huge opportunity for the profession of optometry. Computer vision care is a nearpoint issue and optometrists are the near vision experts."

The January 2001 presentations will be made to students at three schools of optometry: University of California, Berkeley; Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and Ohio State University in Columbus. The schedule of seminars for the remainder of 2001 will be announced shortly. PRIO has donated computer vision diagnostic instruments to all the colleges and schools of optometry.

"The schools and colleges of optometry are our future. At PRIO we are committed to helping prepare new optometrists to provide the best available computer vision care to their patients, and, at the same time, show them how to market computer vision care into a practice-building service," continued Torrey.
